Saturday 3 December 2011, at 9 p.m., Michele Croese will perform on the Bianchi organ (1869) in St. Andrew's church at Morego, Genova, for the last scheduled concert of Per Sonar Organi festival. Music by Frescobaldi, Rossi, A. Scarlatti, Martini, Galuppi, Morandi. Free entrance. Free tasting of typical local food at the end.
Morego is 2 kms from Genova-Bolzaneto exit of A7: is easily reachable by car driving on Via Ferriere Bruzzo, passing the fruit and vegetable market, the viaduct upon Secca river and the lights; then take Via Morego on the right.

Sacred music scheduled for next Saturday, 26 November, at San Siro di Struppa abbey, Genova, at 4.15 p.m. Vespers sung in plainchant will be the last 2011 scheduled concert of Pietre Sonore festival, featuring Cantus Januae ensemble directed by Luca Dellacasa.
The festival is sponsored by Municipio IV, Banco di Chiavari e della Riviera Ligure and Malta Assicurazioni.
How to get to the church:
the abbey is situated in Via di Creto, along the SP 13 to Montoggio and Scrivia valley: arriving from Genova take the SS45 to Piacenza and follow signs to Creto-Montoggio SP13, from Milan and Turin take Genova-est exit of A12, from Scrivia valley drive 12km from Busalla exit of A7 (signs to Chiavari-Montoggio) then turn right into SP13 to Creto-Genova for 13km.

On 26th November, at 9 p.m., in the baroque church of St. Stephen in Casella, Genova, M° Ruben Jais (picture), Resident Director of Verdi Symphony Orchestra and Chorus in Milano will conduct Ensemble Stil Moderno, together with "I piccoli Cantori" boys choir, Coro S. Stefano di Casella and Cantus Januae Ensemble. Performing with virtuosic talent and fervor, StilModerno’s talents will thrill and excite as you sit only feet away from this internationally acclaimed musicians.
This concert is the penultimate of "Per Sonar Organi 2011" festival, and is dedicated to Arrigo Boccioni (1921-2010) for his outstanding dedication to choral music performance and education and his activity as local historian and researcher.
The program includes Bach's cantata "Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland", Dall'Abaco's concerto for cello, strings and continuo and Vivaldi's Gloria in D major.

Per Sonar Organi, "Scientia et Musica", 14 July-3 December 2011.
The 6th event will take place in Oratorio del SS.mo Sacramento e San Bartolomeo di Staglieno (Genova) at 9 p.m., with a concert performed by "I piccoli cantori di Casella" chorus directed by M° Luca Dellacasa. The concert is titled "Beata es Maria", with a survey of some of the most interesting compositions dedicated to the Virgin Mary from the Middle Ages until recent times.
Admission free. Free tasting of typical local food at the end of the concert.
To get to the Oratorio:
by car, Genova-est exit of A12, follow signs to Piacenza, at the second bridge turn left, and then take the 1st street on your left (Via delle Gavette);

Per Sonar Organi 2011, Early Music Festival in Valbisagno and genoese valleys, “Scientia et Musica”.
I piccoli cantori di Casella, directed by Luca Dellacasa, at Santuario di Santa Maria delle Tre Fontane (Montoggio), Saturday, Sept. 7, at 9 p.m.
This recently formed children's choir will perform a selection of music written for the Blessed Virgin from the Middle Ages to contemporary music in a concert titled "Beata es Maria".

To get to Santuario di Tre Fontane from the centre of Genova by car:
drive through Valbisagno, then take SP13 to Creto and Montoggio;

The 3rd concert of Per Sonar Organi 2011 festival will take place at Senarega (Valbrevenna), in Santa Maria Assunta church, on tuesday 16 August at 9 p.m. The organist Stefano Molardi will play the Locatelli organ (1898), restored by Dell'Orto&Lanzini. Following a several months restoration initiative, sponsored by Ministero per i Beni e le Attività Culturali and desired by ex Minister Sandro Bondi, Senarega will officially debut its newly renovated pipe organ to the public. Senarega’s Locatelli instrument, the finest example of mechanical organ in High Scrivia valley, was painstakingly restored to its original 1898 condition. Upcoming performances by renowned organists will continue the longstanding tradition of live music in the church of Senarega. Admission free.

The second concert of Per Sonar Organi 2011 festival will take place at Moranego di Davagna, in San Colombano church, on friday 5 August at 9 p.m. The organist Valentino Ermacora will play the wonderful Tomaso I Roccatagliata organ (1721), restored in 1994 by Dell'Orto&Lanzini. The title of the concert is "Ars et scientia in European keyboard music of 17th and 18th century". Admission free.
Get to Moranego:
from Genova and Bisagno valley: take the road to Torriglia-Piacenza, after Prato at the first junction of the SP14 to Davagna go straight on SS45, after Sottocolle turn left following SP62, then at Passo della Scoffera turn left and take the SP14, direction Davagna;

Music by Liszt, in the 200th anniversary of his birth, Mendelssohn and Schumann. Admission free.

Today, Sunday 12 June, the bells of the tower at San Bartolomeo di Staglieno, one of the oldest churches in Bisagno valley, come back to ring with the early method using ropes, at 4.30 p.m.
Old bells (the oldest is dated 1843), on one of the most glorious towers in the valley, for the bell ringer Andrea Ricci, better known as “O Dria”, spent here several years of his life ringing bells, together with singing in the tradional “trallallero” ensembles, playing guitar and writing verses in genovese dialect. He died in 1994; we are going to perform his music today with the same technique he adopted, and using the same ropes in the same place he left during one of hil last concerts.

The 2011 edition of Pietre Sonore is now starting, with a concert next Sunday 29 May 2011, at 6 p.m., in the wonderful St. Cosma and Damianus' abbey, in the historic centre of Genova.
The concert "Vesperae in Tempore Paschali" (Vesper in Easter Time) will present music from Laudario di Cortona (13th century) and by Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina and Tomàs Luis de Victoria, in the 4th centenary of his death.

"Lacrime belle", the second concert of the series "Concerti spirituali" will take place on Sunday 10th April, in the parish church of St. Stephen at Casella at 9 p.m., with some of the masterpieces of 17th century italian sacred repertoire.
The ensemble is comprised of 5 voices and a boy treble, with Gianenrico Cortese (archlute), Roberta Pregliasco (baroque trombone) and Luca Dellacasa (organ, director).

The third concert of "Per Sonar Organi" will feature Davide Merello playing on the wonderful “Tomaso I Roccatagliata” organ, built in 1721 and restored by Dell’Orto&Lanzini in 1994 (in the picture), in the church of San Colombano di Moranego, at Davagna, tonight, Saturday 31 July at 9 p.m.; the programme will focus on italian organ music between 17th and 19th century.

Concerts of bells next thursday, 5 March, at 1030 at Sant’Antonino di Casamàvari and saturday, 7 March, at 10 at Quezzi, for the visit of the archbishop.
The music that will be played during each concert is the same composed by players who have been climbing up to these towers for all their lifes, playing their enchanting melodies but now dead: Giuseppe Narizzano, Andrea Ricci, Filippo Traxino, Agostino Gherardi, Giovanni Battista Santagata (the compiler of the manuscript of bells music of Quezzi).

An extraordinary event for Genova will be held by ensemble Seicentodieci, next Sunday, 21 December, at 5.30 p.m. in the church of San Giovanni di Pré: the performance of music by genoese composers of XVII century forgotten in libraries throughout Europe but recently restored to its original splendour after a long oblivion.

“Stella splendens: songs of faith and joy along pilgrim’s ways during the Middle Ages” is the title of the concert scheduled at Chiesa millenaria of Ruta di Camogli for next Sunday, 5 October, at 6 p.m., featuring Orientis Partibus Ensemble, and included in the festival "Per Sonar Organi".
They will perform some of the laude of St. Columban’s monastery of Bobbio manuscript F I 4.
Orientis Partibus Ensemble performs on authentic instruments, reconstructed on the basis of medieval iconography. The musicians have made tournées to Italy, France, Switzerland, Germany, Poland, the Netherlands, Austria, Finland, Hungary, USA, Australia.
The lecture “Music and musical instrumens in the Middle Ages: pilgrims’ ways songs”, that will deal with the most interesting and curious aspects of pilgrims’ music, performing praxis and musical instruments of the Middle Ages, will be given at 5.15 p.m.
To get to Chiesa millenaria, by car: proceed along the SS1 Aurelia (from A12, exit at Recco and follow signs to Rapallo-La Spezia if you are coming from Genova, or exit at Rapallo and follow to Genova, driving from the east Riviera) until you reach Ruta di Camogli; then take the SP31 to San Martino di Noceto, you will find Chiesa millenaria at the crossroads among Via XXV Aprile, Via Caravaggio and Via Chiesa Vecchia di Bana;
by bus: there is a regular bus service departing from Camogli FS, Recco, Santa Margherita Ligure and Rapallo FS to Ruta (info: www.atp-spa.it ).

The ensemble “Cantus Januæ” gave the first performance in modern times of genoese music of the end of the XVI century, in St. Torpete church in Genova last tuesday, 20 March, from 7 p.m.
Cornetts and sackbuts, together with the newly restored organ were the setting of these extraordinarily beautiful musics.
